Field
Your edge server, in your hand
TameChaos Field is the Android companion for your edge: pair a phone or rugged tablet with a local edge server to watch live runs, respond to anomalies on the spot, and capture what you find in the field. The edge stays authoritative — Field is the human, on-site Run surface.
What it is
The Android companion to an authoritative edge
Field pairs a phone or rugged tablet with a local edge server. It’s the human, on-site Run surface — watch, respond, and capture, right at the hardware. The edge runs; Field is your window onto it.
The edge, in your hand
Field pairs to a local edge server and mirrors it on Android. The edge is the authoritative runtime — Field executes nothing on its own and isn’t useful without one.
The on-site Run surface
This is the human, on the floor: watch live runs, catch anomalies as they happen, and respond in the moment — right where the work and the hardware actually are.
Monitor and capture — not author
Phones render, monitor, and capture. Designing topology, instruments, and HMIs stays in Studio; Field is the field-side companion that brings that work to where you’re standing.
What you can do
Pair, watch, respond, and capture — on the floor
A local-first Android companion bonded to your edge: pair in seconds, monitor live runs, respond to anomalies in the moment, control runs by your edge-issued role, and capture what you find.
Pair locally in seconds
Scan a QR code or enter a short code to bond to a nearby edge server. Credentials live in your device’s secure storage — never in the cloud.
Watch runs live
Monitor active runs and anomaly and status events in real time over a live stream, with a polling fallback for when the connection on-site gets rough.
Respond to anomalies on the spot
Acknowledge alerts, journal what you see, and drop observation nodes against a run — right where you’re standing, the moment something happens.
Control the run — by your role
Start, pause, resume, or stop a run, gated by the role your edge issued to the device. The edge authorises and audits every action; Field never commands on its own.
Capture field discovery
Photograph and annotate equipment, create observed components, and promote them into sensors or topology — role-gated, with the discovery flowing back into Studio.
Render Studio-authored HMIs
View the operator dashboards authored in Studio, rendered read-only and single-column for a phone. Field renders HMIs; it doesn’t author them.
Edge-first & offline-tolerant
Field pairs to a local edge, not a cloud login — and the edge, not the cloud, is the sync target. It keeps working when the network on-site doesn’t.
Background vigilance
A foreground service keeps watch and surfaces critical anomalies even when Field isn’t the app in front of you — so nothing important slips past.
Android & edge-first
On the Android you already carry, paired to your edge
Field is an Android app — phones and rugged tablets — that bonds to a local edge by pairing, not a cloud login. The edge is the sync target and the authority; Field is its on-site face.
Android phones and tablets
Field runs on the Android phones and rugged tablets your team already carries. Bring your own device — there’s no special hardware to buy and nothing to enrol.
Paired to a local edge
Entry is local pairing with a nearby edge — not a cloud login. The edge is the sync target, so Field is useful right at the hardware, even when the internet isn’t.
The edge stays authoritative
Field commands nothing on its own. Run-control is gated by an edge-issued role and audited by the edge — the edge decides and records, every time.
Where Field is
In development → early access → MVP
Field is coming soon. It’s substantially built but still pre-release — here’s the honest staging. Early access is a real beta, not a finished, generally available product.
Now
1 · In development
Field is substantially built and in active testing — but it’s pre-release software, not a finished product, and it isn’t on Google Play yet.
Next
2 · Early access
Join the waitlist and the first builds come to you. Field is Android-only and goes out to early-access users while it hardens toward MVP — a real beta, not a finished release.
Target July 5, 2026
3 · MVP
The first shippable Field: local pairing, live run monitoring, anomaly response, role-gated run-control, field capture, and read-only Studio HMI rendering.
Honest scope
Field watches and captures. The edge runs.
Field is the on-site companion to an authoritative edge — not a standalone runtime, a safety-critical control panel, or a device-management product. Here’s exactly where the line is.
What Field does
Pair to your edge, watch runs, respond to anomalies, and capture field discovery — on Android, right at the hardware.
- Pair locally to your edge and watch runs live
- Respond to anomalies and capture field discovery
- Run-control — start, pause, resume, stop — by your edge-issued role
- Render Studio-authored HMIs, read-only on a phone
What it isn’t
Field never executes on its own and never claims more than an edge companion should — the edge stays authoritative.
- Not a standalone runtime — the edge is authoritative; Field executes nothing
- Not safety-critical control — run-control is role-gated and edge-audited
- Not an MDM or device-management product — bring your own Android device
- Android only, local-pairing — no iOS, no cloud login (Apple is served by Studio)
